192.168.100.1 IP is a private IP address that both the local network can be used as IP address and as a default IP address on some routers.

When you see the 192.168.100.1 as an IP address assigned to your router, it is either the router’s IP is set to private or the 192.168.100.1 is the default IP address to your router.

The IP address 192.168.100.1 can be assigned to your router or a local network manually that its configuration is based on this IP address.

The meaning of this is that the IP address can be assigned to a router, computer, laptop, smartphone, desktop, Chromecast, etc.

In the same sense, the 192.168.100.1 IP address can also be a default IP address for your router at home.

Login to 192.168.100.1

If this IP address is your router default IP address or local network IP address you can log into your administrative backend.

• Open your browser on PC or mobile
• Visit https://192.168.100.1
• Type your username and password
• Click on login
• Wait for some couple of seconds and you will be logged into your account

Now, once you are logged into your account you can change your router username and password in the admin backend.

Change Password

If 192.168 100.1 is your default IP address or your local network address as a private network, here is a walk around to change 192 168 100 1 password.

1. Open your browser
2. Go to https://192.168.100.1
3. Type your username and password and click on the login button
4. Click on Administrator >> Password
5. Enter your old password
6. Type your new password and re-type your new password again
7. Click on save

When next you want to access your admin panel the old password will be invalid. You can only access it using the new password.

Assign 192.168.100.1 to a Client

Another use of this private IP address is that you can decide to assign it to a client. But, you have to be an administrator to be able to carry out this task.

There are two ways to do this. Manually and automatically. If you want to do this manually, you need to form a static IP address with it before it’ll work.

For automatic approach, the IP 192.168.100.1 must be done through  DHCP  which is very important. To the best of my understanding, to use DHCP, the router must be set up to include 192.168.100.1 IP to the list of addresses.

Let us assume that you start the IP address on the router from 192.168.1.1, this implies that you can create hundreds of thousands of IP addresses within this range and still not get to 192.168.100.1 which is your target IP address.

So, when using DHCP to assign the IP address to your local network, it’s wise and advisable to start from 192.168.100.1 instead of 192.168.1.1 so that you will have a wide range of IP addresses such as 192.168.100.2, 192.168.100.3 and the likes.
